The benchmark of the category, the most expensive thing in it, and, in Australia,
a meaningfully different product from the one most overseas reviews describe.
Prices and specifications checked
Read this before you watch another review. The camera mount and connection
are not available in Australia or New Zealand. Whisker's own Australian distributor states
it. Almost every overseas video demonstrating the Litter-Robot 4's camera and health
tracking is showing hardware you cannot buy here.

What it does better than anything else
The 90-day money-back guarantee. The most likely way an automatic litter box purchase fails is that the cat refuses it, and this is the only term in the Australian market that covers that. On a A$1,575 purchase, that is real money and real peace of mind.
The entry opening. At 40cm by 40cm it is the largest published in the category, which matters for big cats and for cats that dislike squeezing through anything.
No subscription, no app dependency. The Whisker app is genuinely optional. Nothing you paid for stops working if you never connect it, which is not true of its closest rival.
An established Australian distributor. Cat Evolution has been importing these for years and sells reconditioned units and parts, which is more of a service path than most of this category offers.
What we hold against it
The price. Nearly three times the CATLINK for the same fundamental mechanism. The extras are real but they are not a thousand dollars of real.
The liners are proprietary. About A$72 a year, and the LR4 liners are redesigned in white for the weight sensor, so the older cheaper ones are not a like-for-like substitute.
The specification gaps are odd at this price. No maximum cat weight, no step-up height, no noise figure, no power draw. The dearest product in a category should not be the least documented.
A dimensions discrepancy on the distributor's own site. The product page gives 60 x 60 x 79cm; the same seller's FAQ gives 56 x 69 x 75cm. We use the product page figure and flag the conflict rather than picking one quietly.
Who should buy it
Buy it if your cat has rejected a litter box before, if your cat is large, or if you want the
option to send it back. The money-back guarantee is the product's best feature and it is not
on the spec sheet.
Do not buy it purely because it is the famous one. On mechanism and outcome it does the same
job as a
CATLINK Scooper Luxury Pro X at a third of the price with
no proprietary consumable. The
three-way comparison puts them side by
side.
Common questions
How much is the Litter-Robot 4 in Australia?
A$1,575 from Cat Evolution, the Australian distributor, checked 5 September 2026. That makes it the most expensive automatic litter box we track by several hundred dollars. Reconditioned units are sold at a lower price by the same distributor.
Does the Litter-Robot 4 have a camera in Australia?
No. The camera mount and connection are not available in Australia or New Zealand. This matters because a large share of the overseas reviews and videos that sell this product are demonstrating hardware Australian buyers cannot get, so you are buying a different specification from the one you may have watched.
What does the Litter-Robot 4 cost to run?
About A$72 a year in waste drawer liners, at A$69 for a pack of fifty and one liner a week for a single cat. The one-a-week figure is our stated assumption, not a published one: Whisker publishes the drawer dimensions but no fill rate. Litter is on top of that, and no manufacturer in this category publishes a consumption figure.
Is the Litter-Robot 4 worth it?
It is worth it if your cat is fussy or you have been burned before, because the 90-day money-back guarantee is the only term in the category that covers a cat refusing the box, and the 40cm entry opening is the most generous published. It is not worth the premium purely on function: the CATLINK does the same job for a thousand dollars less and has no proprietary consumable.
